Helping new “Olim” to break into tech

It’s well known that moving to a new country is super stressful, and I can vouch for that 😪

No home base, family, or friends, and a million miles away from your comfort zone — there’s nothing comfortable about it.

When I moved to Canada I had a near mental breakdown on a weekly basis. I was working as a salesperson for a cosmetic company in the middle of nowhere, a small city called Medicine Hat in Alberta.

No support, no real direction. Just a 22-year-old fresh-out-of-the-army Israeli in -40 degree weather. It was an adventure, to say the least!

I had good days and bad, and could definitely have used some guidance on how to navigate myself in that foreign place. I was so unprepared for the challenge that I ended up moving from place to place instead of staying in Canada — first New York, then Berlin for a short while.

But despite the hardship, moving from place to place was addictive. That feeling of a fresh start, that there’s something new, unfamiliar, and exciting around every corner can be exhilarating!

That’s why I’ll always have a soft spot for those who choose to make that change. I know that supporting people on that journey would be rewarding to me and to my businesses.

As part of our mission to empower people with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to create world-class digital experiences, we decided to help any new immigrant to Israel (anyone “making aliyah”) who wants to break into tech.

Our UX Writing Academy (UX Writing Hub) is now recognized by the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration, which will offer vouchers to new immigrants to help them develop new skills.

New “olim” can get up to 80% of the course tuition covered by the government.

We’re super proud to announce this collaboration with the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration and the nonprofit Nefesh B’Nefesh to help new olim break into the Israeli tech field.
